Aim of the project is to re-establish the active raised bog habitats and site hydrology in the areas that are influenced by drainage and to protect the raised bog habitats, plants and animals of European and Latvian importance.

Exhibition in Jelgava Library 16/08/2011 10:39

From August 2nd, 2011 till beginning of September raised bog photo exhibition "Secrets of Mires" will be open in Scientific library of Jelgava. Ir was made in EC LIFE Raised Bogs project.

Raised bogs in Latvia carries great nature values. These are home for bog plants and animals. In four bogs: Rožu Mire, Melnais Lake Mire, Aizkraukle Mire and Forests and Aklais Mire - nature conservation actions have been started during 2010 by the project.

Photo exhibition tells a story about these bogs, nature values in bogs and also about expierence in Wales, Germany and Slovakia.

Exhibition is prepared by Ogre Photo Club. Birds are singing in the exhibition.
