Aim of the project is to re-establish the active raised bog habitats and site hydrology in the areas that are influenced by drainage and to protect the raised bog habitats, plants and animals of European and Latvian importance.

Children Are Learning About Raised Bogs 15/03/2011 00:00

On March 9 the Project team visited Sala Secondary School to tell about Raised bog values and to open exhibition "Secrets of Bog".

In the beginning of the seminar Principal of Sala Secondary School Janīna Riška introduced the Project team to children. After that all participants of the seminar watched film "Story about Bog" made by ELM MEDIA.

 

 

On the second part of the seminar Project Manager Dr.biol. Māra Pakalne told about nature values in bog and how bogs are formed. Rožu Mire is near Sala village and students were informed about it.

To check how children had payed their attention a contest about bogs was prepared by Daiga Brakmane. The first place was taken by two girls who will wisit Rožu Mire together with Nature Experts in spring.

In the end of the seminar an exhibition "Secrets of Bogs" was opened. It will be in Sala Secondary School till March 18.
