Aim of the project is to re-establish the active raised bog habitats and site hydrology in the areas that are influenced by drainage and to protect the raised bog habitats, plants and animals of European and Latvian importance.

20th Workshop of the European Vegetation Survey 19/04/2011 13:38

April 4th to 10th Project Manager Māra Pakalne and Assistant Aivars Slišāns took part in 20th Workshop of the European Vegetation Survey in Roma, Italy.

The seminar was held in Roma Botanical Garden, in villa Farmesana. It was attended by 169 participants from 29 countries. It was well organised by team of Francesko Spada.

It was interesting to get to know other projects and meet its managers. Very interesting was to listen to Olga Galanina about North-West bogs of Russia and Belarus.

It was also possible to get to know local vegetation. Others were interested in Dr.biol. Māra Pakalne's report about LIFE+ Project Restoration of Raised Bog Habitats in the Especially Protected Nature Areas of Latvia.

New ideas have come and new expierence gained for LIFE Project. Thank You Rome!
